The Pacific Northwest offers abundant outdoor opportunities, which naturally include some that invite nature photography. For someone living in Portland, even for someone my age, day hikes in the Columbia River Gorge or in the several nearly Cascade mountains can be - depending on the season - quite feasible. And if one is able to stay an overnight or two somewhere, the range increases appreciably. The majority of photos in this gallery, including all the Columbia River Gorge or Mt. Hood photos, were taken on day hikes. And one of these, the obligatory photo of Multnomah Falls, was taken in the dead of winter.
